New to NASCAR Racing or just trying to get your own work started? Then this is the spot for you. Here you will find instructions on how to use the files found throughout this site to create your own cars, drivers and crew.

Recommended Download: www.winzip.com

Base Layers
Usage:
You will need a graphics program such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop or another program that can open .psp and .psd images in order to use these files. Once downloaded, open the file in your paint program along with the car layout you wish to use it on. From here do one of the following:

merge the layers and copy (Photoshop)
or
perform a 'copy merged' (Paint Shop Pro)

Then place the image as a new layer above the background on the car layout. Move it into its correct place and you are done. You also have the option of taking any single layer (such as the suit background or decals) off of the file and using them as you wish.

Driver layers
Usage:
You will need a graphics program such as Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop or another program that can open .tga images in order to use these files. Once downloaded, open the file in your paint program along with the car layout you wish to use it on. From here, simply copy the driver suit and then place the image as a new layer above the 'car mask' (or the very top layer) on the car layout. Move it into its correct place (above the space where the current driver suit is) and you are done.

Make sure to save the combined car/ suit image as a .tga in the exports_imports folder of NR2k3.
A possible full path might be something like this:
C:\Program Files\Papyrus\NASCAR Racing 2003 Season\exports_imports

The completed image will need to be saved to that directory, as that file type (.tga), to appear for use in the game.

From there, start up NASCAR Racing 2003 and go to the Opponent Manager. Pick an existing car or create a new driver and then click the 'IMPORT' button that appears in the lower right hand corner next to the desired car. Scroll down the list and look for the filename of the car you saved and then click 'OK'. And then you are done!

Export / Import
Usage: Exporting and Importing car textures is easier in NASCAR Racing 2003 than is has been in any of the previous editions of the game. Unique to the newest version is the ability to import 'Hi-Res' cars with a size of 1024 x 1024. Twice the size of the old 512 x 512, but also twice the clarity of graphics!

Exporting is pretty straightforward. While in Opponent Manager, click the 'EXPORT' button that appears in the lower right hand corner next to the desired car. You will be prompted for a file name to save it as and once you click 'OK' you are done. The only tricky part may be finding the file you just saved.

By default, all exported textures exported from the game are saved as 512 x 512 .tga files. They are automatically saved to the folder called exports_imports in the Papyrus directory.
A possible full path might be something like this:
C:\Program Files\Papyrus\NASCAR Racing 2003 Season\exports_imports

When Importing a car texture to the game, just follow the reverse steps. Make sure you have saved a completed car image as a .tga (in either 512 x 512 or Hi-Res 1024 x 1024) and placed it in the exports_imports folder.
